Joy and Nomi took the plunge and signed up for their first 10km running race ever in May 2010 in Singapore at the Sundown Race event...Then they trained for a half marathon in the fall of 2010, Joy's in Canada and Nomi's in Malaysia...Then, they finished their second-ever half marathon in Singapore May 2011 at the Sundown Race event, but this time they ran together!

Then their sporting paths diverged: Nomi went on to run marathons while Joy learned how to ride a bike. This blog charts their progress from 2010 to 2012.

Read their blog to see what their sporting adventures look like or just look at the pictures of Canada's capital city and Malaysia's capital city. Ode to Nomi

Joy here...In my last post I made a point of highlighting our hardcoreness, and there's a woman out there who totally deserves a shout out as super hardcore...my co-blogger, Nomi!

The Kid!
Now some of you have been wondering where Nomi's been lately on this blog, as there have been more and more entries from me and fewer and fewer from her.  Not to worry...it's not that she's not training or running, but rather that she's damn busy.  She's a physician who went back to work this past year after taking some time off to spend with her daughter.  Her daughter is, to put it mildly, a high energy kid.  She's got this crazy imagination, a wild sense of humour, an original outlook, and a fair dose of teenage attitude, despite being only 8 years old!

Yet despite working, raising a crazy kid, being a great wife to another physician, Nomi's also finding time to run.  In fact, after finishing her first-ever full marathon back in November, she's just signed up for another one this coming July...which means that she'll complete two full marathons less than 8 months apart!  Totally hardcore.

So as I sit leisurely on my spin bike for an easy 45 minutes, I tip my proverbial hat to my hardcore running friend who has left me in her dust.

Over and out,
Joy
