Joy and Nomi took the plunge and signed up for their first 10km running race ever in May 2010 in Singapore at the Sundown Race event...Then they trained for a half marathon in the fall of 2010, Joy's in Canada and Nomi's in Malaysia...Then, they finished their second-ever half marathon in Singapore May 2011 at the Sundown Race event, but this time they ran together!

Then their sporting paths diverged: Nomi went on to run marathons while Joy learned how to ride a bike. This blog charts their progress from 2010 to 2012.

A Week in Review (or 9 1/2 Hours of Cycling)

Joy here...With my first week off running due to my fractured toe, I managed around 6 hours of cycling, and this, my second week off running, I managed around 9 1/2 hours of cycling...6 rides in total, with 4 of those as straightforward indoor rides and 2 of them epic outdoor rides.

Here's what it looked like:
SUNDAY - 1 hr 40 mins on the indoor bike with The Professor
MONDAY - REST
TUESDAY - Easy 60 minutes on the indoor spin bike
WEDNESDAY - Awesome 2-ish hour ride outside (including TWO Pink Lake hill repeats!)
THURSDAY - 55 minutes of aerobic intensity in my spinning class
FRIDAY - A surprise 3 hour bike ride up to Champlain Lookout and back (the first loop of the season!)
SATURDAY - 50 minutes easy in the basement on the spin bike

It's been a long, long while since I've worked out 6 out of 7 days in a week.  I think when I was training for my very first 1/2 marathon back in October of 2010 I was on a roll like that, but I've been struggling with consistency since then, so I will look back on this past week, and even though I've put in those hours on the bike rather than out there on my feet, I will still be proud of my accomplishment and feel that my next 1/2 marathon (a full year later than my last one) isn't fully out of reach.

More importantly, though, with all this riding, I may just convince myself that I deserve an upgrade on my 5 year old road bike...

Is that me testing out a Pinarello???
...stay tuned!

Over and out,
Joy
